The BLT Community Centre that all 3 orders of government approved funding for in 2020 are substantially over budget. While we expected the tender to be released the Spring of 2023, HRM Council is deferring the construction phase of the project for one year to spread out the over expenditure into the 24/25 and 25/26 fiscal years.
What this means is that there is at least a one year delay to post the tender to proceed with construction in April of 2024. While it is disappointing to be informed of more delays to the project, thankfully HRM has confirmed their commitment with the Provincial and Federal Governments to continue with the project.
I will continue to watch and report back on the progress of this in hopes that this will be the last deferral.
