Intersection update: Timberlea Village Parkway and St Margarets Bay Road

Timberlea is growing at a rapid pace. The area is attracting new business’, construction of new homes is in full swing, and new families are joining our community every day. This rapid growth is welcomed and encouraged but brings with it new challenges to accommodate higher volumes of traffic and movement throughout the area.

My office is aware of the pressures on our current infrastructure, however, the installation of sidewalks, crosswalks, traffic lights, and the assessment of speed limits in Timberlea fall under the purview of Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).

I am pleased to report, Councillor Stoddard has been working and advocating for changes at the intersection of the Timberlea Village Parkway and St Margarets Bay Road since she was elected to council.

Councillor Stoddard has confirmed the following update:

“The subject intersection is getting closer to meeting recommended design parameters for signals. Given the continued anticipated growth in Brunello Estates and elsewhere in the area, we intend to design the St Margaret’s Bay Rd / Timberlea Village Pkwy (SMBR @ TVP) signals this year with the expectation to construct in 2023, subject to Council’s approval of ongoing requested budgets and recommended projects.”
