Working together for Timberlea-Prospect

It is a privilege to have been re-elected as your MLA, and I am deeply honoured to serve the residents of Timberlea-Prospect once again.

Following the swearing-in ceremony on December 10, 2024, I wasted no time getting to work on your behalf. One of my first actions was hosting a meeting with our newly elected councillors, Janet Steele (District 12) and Nancy Hartling (District 13). This productive discussion focused on key issues, where collaboration between provincial and municipal governments can yield meaningful results for our communities.

Topics included the Otter Lake landfill, roads, housing, planning and development, egress routes, and environmental sustainability. I’m confident that by working together, we can address these pressing matters to benefit all constituents before the holiday season.

I also met with federal ministers to advance important projects for our region. As a long-time advocate for increased provincial land protection, I was particularly encouraged by discussions regarding the Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes National Urban Park.

Meeting with Minister Steven Guilbeault and MP Lena Metlege-Diab, I emphasized the importance of finalizing the designation agreement and securing investments. MP Diab and I also met with staff from Parks Canada and advocated for new access points to connect the park with the BLT area, leveraging our existing trail networks to enhance community access to this natural gem. I’m pleased that the federal government remains committed to this project and look forward to further progress.

At the time, MP Sean Fraser was the Minister of Infrastructure, and I met with him to ask if there is any current or future federal involvement in funding new roads. I am pursuing all orders of government to support a new link in and out of the Prospect Road communities. While roads are primarily within the provincial jurisdiction, I am interested in all options to advance this priority for me over the next few years.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to working hard for the people of Timberlea-Prospect in the year ahead.
