The Bayers Lake Outpatient Centre is a once in a lifetime project for our entire region. I look forward to opening day and seeing all the modern equipment in action, and ultimately a better health care access point for hundreds of thousands of Nova Scotians.

As of December 18, the Lakeside Community building will be closed to allow for the demolition of this building to make way for new infrastructure that will feature a full-size gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, playground, slash pad, and a community kitchen.

It brings me great pride and pleasure to realize the gains achieved because of years of hard work by sharing that the opening of the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre is planned for November 20, 2023. 

The Mayflower Curling Club’s submission for grant funding from the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage’s Rink Revitalization Fund was successful and prep work for the new building location is underway behind the Sobeys in Timberlea.

Nominations for the 2023 Nova Scotia Human Rights Awards are now open, nominate an individual Nova Scotian and groups who demonstrate excellence in this area.

To keep improving how decisions are made, understanding community vulnerabilities, and mitigate emergency risks and hazards, the Halifax Regional Municipality Emergency Management Division is conducting a Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment.

The Chebucto West Community Health Board announced this year’s wellness fund grants to not-for-profit groups who are passionate about their communities and are working at the grass root level to ensure communities are healthy within their own community.
